CPSO sends a congratulatory red salute to the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) on the 52nd anniversary of its founding! The NDFP continues to stand at the forefront of the Filipino people’s struggle for national liberation, social justice, and a genuinely democratic society.
The NDFP was founded on April 24, 1973, as a united front of revolutionary organizations, made up of workers, peasants, intellectuals, and patriotic sectors of the masses in their struggle against the US-backed Marcos dictatorship. Emerging during a period of brutal fascist rule, the NDFP today consists of 18 allied organizations.
The NDFP’s 12-Point Program is the guide and rallying point offered to the masses as they fight for an independent, just, prosperous and progressive future. The NDFP are paving the way for this new democratic society, promoting national unity within and beyond its own member organizations.
The NDFP has struggled tirelessly alongside the masses to advance the interests of the oppressed peoples of the Philippines, standing shoulder to shoulder with workers, peasants, various indigenous communities, LGBTQIA+, and all other marginalized sectors. Through opposition to the exploitative grip of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism, the NDFP have proven themselves as true representatives of the interests of the Filipino masses.
As the Marcos Jr. regime continues to act directly opposite to the Filipino peoples’ interests, strengthening NATO ties, the GRP increases the risk of drawing the Philippines into another pointless war of NATO aggression. CPSO condemns Canadian involvement in the “NATO 2030” initiative, which identifies China as a principal security concern, and signals the imperialist desire to expand US-led militarization of the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in the Philippines.
As a member organization of Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle, we continue to stand with the NDFP in their fight for National Democracy and genuine freedom in the Philippines.
